It's been a steady progression for 2014 Byrnes High School wide receiver Shaedon Meadors. He hit the radar early during his junior season and his upward trend continues as he now holds offers. During Week 0 Meadors and the Rebels knocked off Apopka (FL) on ESPN before a national television audience. Meadors made the most of his time in the spotlight scoring four touchdowns. Shortly afterwards he landed another offer, this one from Tulane. We caught up with Meadors to talk about his thoughts concerning the showdown with Apopka, latest offer, and more.
Being on national television was the 2014 standout nervous at all?
"No I've been in that situation before. It was one of my best games ever. It felt great but I couldn't have done it without my #GDB (Get Dough Boys, Byrnes Wide Receiver Corps), quarterback, and offensive line."
With the game drawing national attention with perennial powers facing off and state bragging rights on the line one would think there may have been some jawing going on between the wide receivers and defensive backs. Was that the case?
"No they were quiet but we (receiving corps) don't talk. We work!"
As mentioned previously Tulane stepped up with an offer shortly after the game against Apopka.
"We were kind of talking a bit before the game but it feels great to get the offer from Tulane."
Those aren't the only schools who are actively recruiting Meadors though.
"I'm hearing from Indiana, Wyoming, Northern Illinois, and North Carolina State now too. I'm wide open to everybody right now. I'd like to hear more from some of the ACC and SEC schools, some of the bigger schools."
Considering how well he played against Apopka scoring 4 touchdowns we asked the 6'2 175 pound play maker to rate his play on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best and he had this to say.
"I don't know how I would rate it. I think I played good but probably could have did some things better. I dropped that one but other than that I think I played pretty good."
SCPrepNation.com will have more updates with Shaedon Meadors as he hopes to continue his upwards trend and add more offers to his resume just like he's been adding receptions and touchdowns for the Rebels early this season...stay tuned!
