We arrived last Friday in Boiling Springs just in time for kickoff as they hosted York High School. As I unpacked my video camera I managed to capture the opening kickoff. Fidgeting around to make sure everything was set and good to go I missed Boiling Springs initial snap...and that's all it took. First play of the game and 2014 running back Treshaun Sanderlin was gone! It was the only play we failed to film that night but Sanderlin provided quite a few more highlight reel plays during the course of the night. We caught up with Sanderlin to talk about where things stand with his recruitment and surprisingly it is relatively quiet.
Despite rushing for over 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns and having 500 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns last year as a junior the 5'10 200 pound prospect holds no offers currently.
He's gotten off to another great start this season. Through the first 2 games of the season Sanderlin had 367 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. He's also had quite a few receptions but was unsure of his yardage but caught a touchdown pass against York in their 46-45 loss.
"I haven't heard from anyone really. A few schools have come by and talked to me but nobody has offered me yet. Coastal Carolina, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Appalachian State, and East Carolina are the schools that have been by. I think that's about it so far."
On a night where he was making a bunch of plays for the Bulldogs against York Sanderlin showed a lot of skills that college coaches would love to have on Saturdays in our opinion. We talked with Sanderlin about where he feels his strengths are right now as a running back.
"I'd say my biggest strengths are my field vision, ability to make people miss, and catching the ball out of the backfield. I'd say my blocking has gotten a lot better too."
Having heard from some regional schools already Sanderlin is hoping that his play early on and sending highlights from his junior season along with early senior season film will attract some offers. Given what we saw against York Sanderlin definitely has FBS and FCS potential and is flying way under the radar currently. The 2014 prospect shared with us what aspects he'll be considering heavily when choosing a college.
"Education, playing time, coaching staff, and style of play will be important to me."
Sanderlin says his GPA is around a 3.0 currently and that he'll be taking the ACT in December.
We've got HD highlights of Sanderlin's game highlights against York so stay tuned to see why we say he's flying under the radar.
