Denzel Johnson Profile

As one of the state's top prospects early on in the 2015 recruiting class A.C. Flora cornerback/wide receiver Denzel Johnson has already landed an offer from the Clemson Tigers. We caught up with the talented play maker from A.C. Flora and he says more offers could be coming soon.

A number of schools have been in contact as of late Johnson informed us.

"North Carolina State came to visit with me and my coach. They said they should be close to offering me. Georgia and Penn State are two other schools who I think are close to offering me."

Johnson will be active this off season too as he says he plans to go to camp with Florida, UCLA, Clemson, South Carolina, and North Carolina State."

With a number of schools involved currently does anyone lead for Johnson at this point?

"Clemson is up there since they have offered."

Johnson says the Tigers have shown him plenty of early attention and he likes that.

The 2015 prospect says he hopes things intensify with Florida and Georgia in the near future. He also informed us that Vanderbilt has recently reached out and started recruiting him.

Being in the Columbia area we asked Johnson what his thoughts were concerning the South Carolina Gamecocks?

"South Carolina is a good school because its my hometown. It makes it more relaxing for my family and others since its so close."

Thus far Johnson says that schools are recruiting him at a fifty/fifty rate at "defensive back and wide receiver."

He says Clemson informed him that "they are looking for players like me that are lanky, tall, and really fast."

We asked Johnson if he had to compare his style of play to just one player who would it be?

"Dez Bryant on offense at wide receiver and on defense I'm more of a Richard Sherman type."

Looking ahead to college the 2015 prospect told us three keys that he'll be looking at strongly when choosing his college.

"Getting a good education, early playing time, and location are going to be important to me."

Right now Johnson says his speed and power are his biggest strengths on the field and that he wants to improve on his footwork to get even better.
