One school stepped up early with an offer for a prospect we feel may be the toughest running back in the state of South Carolina, Dutch Fork's Matt Colburn. After a storybook season in which he helped Dutch Fork win the AAAA Division 1 state championship and he amassed over 3,000 yards from scrimmage Colburn has landed his first scholarship offer.
"I got my first offer from Marshall tonight," Colburn said.
"Coach Furrey, their wide receivers coach I believe is who offered me."
So how did the 2015 prospect feel when he learned that Marshall was offering him his first scholarship?
"So crazy, I can't believe it. I honestly didn't think I'd ever get one. I'm just so blessed and elated!"
Colburn has other schools who are actively pursuing him and he is in fact headed to an ACC school on Saturday morning.
"I'm on my way to North Carolina for their Junior Day."
As of right now there aren't any other visits lined up for Colburn.
"None really, besides heading back to Clemson for their Spring Game. I think South Carolina's is up on the 29th, I have a feeling they will invite me to that hopefully."
We'll follow up with Colburn after his visit to Chapel Hill to see what the Tar Heels had to say and what his thoughts were on their campus, staff, and facilities so keep it locked right here for more of the latest.
