For more than 2 years now we've been bringing you updates about 2015 Gaffney offensive tackle T.J. Haney. The 6'6 315 pound prospect has been on the radar for a long time and his work has started to pay off with a number of offers in recent months. Haney visited Wake Forest over the weekend and didn't leave empty handed.
"Wake Forest offered me. Wake Forest was good. It's a very nice place and a nice town."
The Demon Deacons apparently showed Haney plenty of love while he was there too.
"They really want me up there and treated my family great. They told me they loved my film too."
Seeing so much of what Wake Forest has to offer while there Haney says one particular part of his visit stood out to him as his favorite.
"My solo talk with Coach Clawson in his office with my dad."
Haney also shared some news with us regarding his recruitment.
"I will commit on April 4th."
Asked about his intentions, Haney explained it all to us.
"April 4th 1984 was when my grandmother died and I want to mark a new beginning April 4th 2014 with making one of the biggest decisions of my life."
There is another visit on the table for Haney as he says he'll visit South Carolina on March 29th. Soon thereafter he'll announce his decision.
With a GPA over 4.0 currently Haney made it known that academics will play a vital role in his final decision.
"Education plays a huge role in my life. Academics play a big part in my decision."
Being that his commit will be a verbal commitment we asked Haney if he'll keep an open mind or ear to schools that may continue to recruit or offer him after announcing his decision on April 4th?
"I will listen to other colleges and offers and maybe change my mind but where I commit to is where I really want to be. I have a pretty solid decision in mind but will see what else everyone has to offer."
As of right now there are no formal plans for his announcement and Haney says he may announce via Twitter.
We'll have more with Haney after he visits South Carolina and leading up to his decision on April 4th so keep it locked right here for more.
