15' LB Hassan Belton Climbing Quickly

When we first introduced you to Hassan Belton of Blythewood High he was unranked, after some strong showings at various camps and combines he's jumped to a 3-star rating here on Scout.com. Still awaiting his first scholarship offer the 6'1 210 pound prospect talks about a school showing great interest and that he'll visit in the near future. Could his 1st offer be coming soon?

Hassan Belton Profile

Over the weekend 2015 Blythewood linebacker Hassan Belton was out competing and trying to cement his name as a prospect to watch in the next recruiting cycle. Over the past few weeks Belton has done just that and then some earning a 3-star ranking from Scout.com after some impressive outings on the camp/combine circuit after a stellar junior season.

This past weekend Belton was at nearby Dutch Fork High School competing in the VTO Elite Camp and the junior prospect didn't leave emptyhanded either.

"I won overall defensive MVP and linebacker MVP today at the VTO Camp," Belton messaged us on Saturday.

Asked how he felt about his performance during the camp Belton responded, "It was really good. I went out there ready to compete and won linebacker MVP and overall defensive MVP. I dominated in one on ones and was just trying to continue and show my athleticism. The highest reanked athlete out there I believe was Freddie Phillips. He won the top athlete award."

"I was pretty happy with my performance but there is always room for improvement. There was no testing at this camp it was just field drills, 7on7's, and 1on1's."

One school who has quickly emerged into the picture for Belton and reached out to him recently.

"I spoke to Coach Justin Stepp yesterday (Sunday) from Appalachian State. I'm going up on a visit soon. They seem to like me a lot."

"Yesterday (Sunday) was the first conversation I had with Coach Stepp and he said that the linebacker coach really liked my film and maybe I'll get an offer soon."

Being that he holds no offers if Appalachian State were the first school to offer would they become the early favorite and get special consideration being the first school to offer?

"Yes sir they would definitely be an early favorite because a lot of schools are sleeping on me so it means a lot for them to be the first to offer if they do. They are a great program."

As of right now Belton doesn't have any other visits lined up but he'll continue to make the rounds at other various camps and combines he says in March and April.

We'll keep you posted about Belton's recruitment and his upcoming visit to Appalachian State. Keep it right here for more!
