As one of the state's top playmakers this past season 2015 wide receiver Dupree Hart of Northwestern High School is starting to generate plenty of interest for himself. The 5'7 160 pound prospect has a long list of schools showing interest currently and holds 4 offers. We caught up with Hart on Monday to talk about his recruitment and more.
During the start of this story Hart held three offers.
"I've got offers from Old Dominion, Appalachian State, and Coastal Carolina. I would say that Appalachian State, NC State, and Old Dominion are recruiting me the hardest right now."
By the conclusion of our interview another school threw their name in the hat for Hart's talents with his fourth scholarship offer.
"I just got offered by Mercer," Hart told us early Monday night.
So has Mercer been recruiting Hart for quite some time prior to the offer?
"Coach Mitch Doolittle offered me. It was my first time speaking with them was today."
Hart says that he has taken a couple of visits so far and he has more planned for the future. He talked at length about the schools he's already visited.
"I've visited Coastal Carolina and UNC Charlotte so far. I'm going to Appalachian State next month."
"With Coastal Carolina I really liked the atmosphere inside the stadium. They like to spread the ball around through the air as well! At UNC Charlotte I really like the fast paced offense and the coaching staff there."
This past season the 2015 prospect was an instrumental piece of the puzzle for the Trojans as they had a storybook season going undefeated and winning the AAAA Division 2 state championship. Hart talked about his junior season and how it felt to run the table winning it all in glorious fashion.
"I had 114 catches for 1655 yards with 26 touchdowns. I had 3 kickoff returns, 1 punt returns, and 5 rushing touchdowns too."
"It felt great to be only the second team in the history of Northwestern to go undefeated. We knew we had the talent to do it we just had to bring it every night because we got every team's best shot. We came up short last year in the state championship and with most of the 2013 team returning we knew what it took not only to get there but to win it."
So what does Hart think it will take for the Trojans to defend their state title and repeat next year?
"A great off season and spring practice. Getting the guys up from JV and 9th grade mentally ready to take on the challenge."
Obviously Hart isn't the largest wide receiver out there but his talents are undeniable on the field as he piled up some eye popping numbers in the Trojans' Air Raid offense. The 2015 prospect talked about the strengths of his game as well as areas he'd most like to improve on heading towards his senior season.
"I think my strengths are catching the ball and being able to get yards after the catch. I want to improve on coming out of my breaks faster when running my routes."
For his efforts this past season Hart was named Division 2 Player of The Year and was named to the All-State team.
SCPrepNation.com will have more updates with Dupree Hart as he continues to impress college coaches with his talents so keep it right here for more.
