2016 Byrnes wide receiver Jaylan Foster did well when given opportunities last season and he's looking forward on building on that moving forward towards his junior season next year with the Rebels. Some new schools have started to show interest in the sophomore as of late.
"NC State is starting to show interest. North Carolina is too."
The sophomore actually visited with North Carolina last week he says.
"I went to North Carolina and visited on Friday. It was really good. I got to tour the campus and the facilities. I also got a chance to speak to some of the coaches."
So what did the Tar Heels have to say to Foster while he was there?
"They told me that they liked my highlight tape and asked if I thought I could fit in and keep up with their fast pace. I told them that I would be a good fit."
The sophomore and his teammates have recently learned that former Byrnes assistant and Woodruff head coach Brian Lane had been named their new head coach after Bobby Bentley's departure for Auburn a few weeks ago. Foster like all of his teammates that we've spoken to had great things to say about his new head coach.
"It's a pleasure to play for a coach like coach Lane."
Foster also told us that he'll be moving back to playing at wide receiver after he was set to help the defense at cornerback next year. In doing so Foster says he's hoping to continue to build a good chemistry and timing with a player who many suspect is the heir apparent to Old Dominion signee Shuler Bentley, Micah Young, who was one of the Rebels' backup quarterbacks last season as well as a wide receiver.
