UP NEXT: 15' York WR Daurice Simpson

2015 York High wide receiver Daurice Simpson was a playmaker and we saw that in their matchup against Boiling Springs this past season. On Thursday when he informed us that he had landed his 1st offer we weren't surprised at all. The 5'10 180 pound prospect is very explosive and after earning All-Region honors last season we expect his numbers to jump next year, that's why he's "UP NEXT"!

Daurice Simpson Profile

York High School for the past few seasons has centered around the ground and pound running attack that featured 2014 Youngstown State RB signee Ryan Moore. During that time a dynamic wide receiver, Daurice Simpson, has also emerged and on Thursday the 5'10 180 pound prospect landed his first offer. We've got the latest with Simpson as he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com!

"I got an offer from Illinois State. It felt great! I was really excited to get my first offer from a D1 school!"

Other schools have been inquiring about Simpson and he shared the ones he knows of thus far.

"I've been receiving mail from Missouri, Charlotte, Illinois State, Mercer, and others so far."

This past season as a junior Simpson had some impressive stats considering that York has been known for their ground and pound running game. He shared those stats with us.

"I had 50 catches for 877 yards (19.5 average, long of 84 yards) and 11 touchdowns. I also had 400 yards in punt returns averaging 15.3 yards per return. I scored a touchdown on one punt return of 65 yards."

For his efforts he earned All-Region honors.

As we mentioned before we saw Simpson in person in what was one of the most entertaining games we saw all last season as York visited Boiling Springs. Simpson showed his big play ability in that matchup early and often and we were impressed by his speed and ability to stretch the defense out.

Simpson says he likes to compare or pattern his game after current NFL player Tavon Austin. He shared with us some of the areas he feels his strengths are on the field right now and what aspects of his game he wants to continue to work on to get better heading towards his senior season next year.

"I'd say my speed and my play making abilities when I have the ball are my biggest strengths right now. I want to get better with running my routes, having better footwork, and becoming a better blocker."

That speed hasn't been tested in quite some time either. One viewing of his film and its easy to see why we're so high on his ability to take the ball the distance any time he touches it.

"The last time I ran a 40 yard dash was last summer and I ran a 4.48."

Once Simpson's highlights start to make the rounds don't be surprised to see more schools enter the mix for him and even more offers. SCPrepNation.com will have more updates with Simpson as his recruitment is just starting to heat up so keep it right here for the latest!

Simpson is also a standout basketball prospect as well.
