The offers are starting to come a little fast lately for 2015 Dorman wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. The 6'3 180 pound prospect had a fantastic junior season for the Cavaliers and as his film has started to make the rounds the offers are starting to come in now for the talented wide receiver. We caught up with the junior who now holds 7 offers for the very latest.
The junior standout talked about some of the most recent schools he's visited, what he liked about each school, and some of the latest offers he's picked up.
"I like UNC because of the atmosphere that surrounds the place. I liked Clemson because of the fan support and the type of practice they have. I like everything about Wake Forest, the academics, football program, everything!"
The trip to Auburn came on short notice and the invitation came from a familiar face.
"Coach Bentley asked me to make a trip down there."
Bentley is the former head coach of Byrnes which is one of Dorman's biggest rivals who is now at Auburn.
"Coach Bentley said the receivers coach loves my film and would really like me to come down there to visit so I went. It was a pretty good trip, really loved it down there. They said that they really liked my film and skill set. They said that I would fit into their system real well. They also said they'd come visit me in the Spring."
Wake Forest is one of his latest offers and he went in depth about his time in Winston Salem.
"With Wake Forest I really like the place, loved the coaching staff and the kind of education they have is what I really like. I also like the type of offense they run and it really seems like a welcoming place. They are the first ACC/major D1 college to offer me."
A lot of new schools have started to step up their interest for the junior from Dorman and he talked about some of them with us.
So which schools are coming after him the hardest right now?
"Wake Forest, Charlotte, Towson, James Madison, and Furman."
Some of his most recent offers have come from Charlotte, Furman, Old Dominion, Wake Forest, and James Madison.
He talked about a couple of the other schools he's picked up offers from recently too.
"I like James Madison because it really seems like they really really want me up there and they are recruiting me the hardest. I like Old Dominion because they have a real strong offense and they throw the ball more than anyone in the country."
So what's up next for Arcega-Whiteside?
Two facets that he says he'll be working hard on this off season to get even better are his quickness and explosiion.
Recently posting a 4.51 second 40 yard dash the 2015 Dorman prospect is now aiming to get down in the 4.4's.
"Oh yeah I'll be there soon enough!"
