2015 Intro: Spartanburg S Cedarius Rookard

One of the top teams from across the country offered 2015 Spartanburg safety Cedarius Rookard this past week and we caught up with the play making safety to talk about his recruitment. One of the key cogs for coach Chris Miller's defense Rookard should see more schools showing interest over the off season after landing that Pac-12 offer. That's why he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com!

Cedarius Rookard Profile

Earlier this week 2015 Spartanburg safety Cedarius Rookard picked up his first and second offers. The 6'1 190 pound prospect talked about his junior season and early recruitment with us as he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com here.

"I got offers from Stanford and Gardner-Webb this week," Rookard informed us.

Stanford we thought came to town just to check out 2016 prospects RB Tavien Feaster and QB Austin Scott but also offered Rookard while in town.

"It was out of the blue." Rookard said.

The Cardinals hadn't been in contact really prior to their visit Rookard said and he talked about how he felt after learning of the offer from one of the nation's top football and academic programs.

"It was an amazing feeling. Its like when a kid gets what he or she wanted for Christmas!"

Rookard informed us that the Cardinals said they loved his work ethic and potential. An official visit later on to check out Stanford is probable Rookard informed us.

As we stated earlier Gardner-Webb is Rookard's other offer at this point. He says that he's also spoken with Appalachian State and South Carolina so far.

"I've visited Appalachian State and I really like their coaches. I like their coaching and how they do everything as a team instead of an individual."

During his junior season Rookard says he had 45 tackles, 1 sack, 3 pass deflections, 2 fumble recoveries, and one touchdown.

Right now Rookard reports a 3.0 GPA in the classroom and says he's working hard to improve it even more.

As of right now Rookard says he'd like to hear more from Auburn and Florida State.

The 2015 prospect says he tries to compare or pattern his game after the Seattle Seahawks star Kam Chancellor.

One thing that has caught the eye of coaches and scouts recently was Rookard's Shrine Bowl 40 yard dash time. He talked about it and some of his other testing measurables from the weight room.

"I ran a 4.28 second 40 yard dash at the Shrine Bowl Combine. There were 3 coaches and it was hand timed."

Rookard bench presses 275 pounds, squats 425 pounds, power cleans 275 pounds, and also posted a 4.36 pro shuttle time which was also clocked at the Shrine Bowl Combine.

For his junior season Rookard was named the team's "Best Defensive Back" and All-Region.

We'll have more updates with Cedarius Rookard as we expect more schools to get heavily involved after his offer from Stanford....stay tuned!
