Kevin McCray Profile

Things have been relatively quiet for 2016 Timberland offensive tackle Kevin McCray as of late but he's hoping to change that over the off season. The 6'8 320 pound prospect talked about his most recent trip to Columbia to check out the Gamecocks and what his future plans are as well.

"My visit to South Carolina was really good. They urged me to come to camp with them this off season," McCray said.

So does McCray feel like a good showing at the Gamecocks camp could bring forth an offer?

"Absolutely!"

Other schools are highly interested and he talked about some of them that have been by lately.

"Clemson, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, and Clemson have been by the school to see me recently. I have gotten letters from Coatal Carolina, NC State, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State too."

Right now McCray says that Clemson and South Carolina are recruiting him the hardest.

Still waiting on that first offer we asked McCray if the first program to offer him would be shown extra love being the first to do so?

"(Laughs) You could say that!"

McCray says he will camp with both Clemson and South Carolina and will be interesting in camping with any other programs showing strong interest as well.

We probed a little bit and asked McCray if he felt like he knew which school he felt might be the first to offer.

"Clemson."

Spring practice for Timberland won't start until Monday the sophomore told us due to a postponement. Asked if he's anxious to get back on the field and get back to work McCray had an emphatic response.

"You know it!"

McCray says he's been working hard on a few things to try and take his game to another level come next season and start pulling in some scholarship offers.

"I've been working on improving my strength and agility. I'm benching over 300 pounds now so it's coming along. I'm also trying to shed some pounds too. My goal is to get down to 300 pounds or less."
