It's hard not to notice Karl Gamble at 6'8 205 pounds. The height, the length, and inside-out game jump out at you. Putting it all together has been Gamble as he has 5 scholarship offers currently with his biggest one coming on Monday night from the SEC.
On Monday the 2015 prospect picked up an offer from Mississippi State and he talked with us about that offer and his recruitment as a whole.
With it being his largest offer to date we asked the junior from A.C. Flora how it felt to land an SEC scholarship.
"It feels great! Makes me feel as if some work is paying off and that I'm progressing."
The offer from Mississippi State joins previous offers from Presbyterian, SC State, Wofford, and Winthrop. Don't expect things to slow down for Gamble though as he's running with the Upward Stars on the AAU circuit. Other schools have been reaching out lately for the talented Gamble he says.
Gamble feels that if he keeps working hard on improving his game that more offers will follow.
To do so Gamble shared areas of his game he wants to improve upon heading into next season and what his current strengths are already.
"I definitely want to improve my strength and ball handling. I'd say my strengths are that I'm abnormally long (laughs) it makes it easy to get in passing lanes and with rebounding."
We asked the junior which player out there he feels his game most resembles at this point in his career.
"Lamarcus Aldridge, I feel his post and mid range game are both very effective."
With more schools stepping up their interest in him Gamble told us there is one school he'd really like to hear more from and why.
"If I had to choose I'd probably say NC State. To be honest its because of T.J. Warren, even though he's leaving now. I like his game and how he plays."
This past season Gamble averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds per game on a strong A.C. Flora team that went 22-9 and went on to win the AAA state championship this season defeating Darlington 51-42.
