Legacy Charter shooting guard Gage Ellis had to step his game up with the departure of teammate and good friend Jawun Evans for Texas. He did just that helping Legacy to another strong season playing against top teams from across the nation this year. We caught up with Ellis to talk about the latest regarding his recruitment.
"I've got offers from The Citadel, Wofford, Western Carolina, Jacksonville, Appalachian State, and Radford now," Ellis told us.
Playing with the Carolina Raptors Elite AAU team Ellis has been a vital cog for their early success along with former teammate Jawun Evans. In one of the latest polls the Raptors are rated #2 in the country on the AAU circuit. That play has earned Ellis plenty of new interest too.
"I've been hearing from Tennessee Tech, Florida Gulf Coast, Winthrop, USC Upstate, Charleston Southern, Houston, Kennesaw State, and Middle Tennessee State. Out of those I'd say Wofford is recruiting me the hardest right now."
This past season Ellis averaged 15 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and almost 5 steals per game.
With the departure of Evans to Texas Ellis talked about what areas of his game he's improved on the most since the end of last year.
Currently the plan is for Ellis to do a post graduate year but he's already got an idea as to what he's looking for in a potential college destination.
"I'm going to look at who's already there in my position and how many of the same position they have coming in with me."
