Passing the "eye test" with flying colors is 2015 Berea High defensive end Destin Guillen checking in at 6'6 245 pounds. He put together a great junior season and is also a solid basketball prospect as well. Putting those athletic skills together has earned Guillen his first scholarship offer recently and we talked with him about the latest concerning his recruitment.
"I got my first offer from Newberry. It's for football and basketball!" Guillen told us last Wednesday.
With that said the in-state school hasn't been the only program to stop by Berea to see Guillen in recent weeks he says.
Heavy on the radar of Maryland Guillen says he feels like the Terrapins could be close to offering him as well. He says he performed well at one of his most recent combines and is hoping that performance will help catapault his stock heading into the off season where he's hoping to camp with a number of schools to land some more offers.
Other schools involved as of late Guillen said are Yale, Liberty, Miami (Ohio), North Carolina Central, and Wofford.
We'll have more updates with the big defensive end prospect from Berea soon so keep it right here for more of the very latest!
