Martin Bufkin Profile

C.E. Murray High School head coach Brian Smith has seen quite a few schools come by recently to check out some of his prospects. One of his top juniors, CB/WR Martin Bufkin has been one of the primary players that coaches are taking an interest in early on. We caught up with Bufkin to find out the very latest regarding his recruitment.

The 5'8 170 pound prospect shared which schools have stopped by recently and taken an interest in him.

Thus far Bufkin says he's hearing from Navy, South Carolina, Citadel, and Charleston Southern.

The 2015 prospect talked about his best game during his junior season where he played both cornerback and wide receiver for coach Brian Smith's team.

"My best game was against Timberland. I had a different focus and one thing in mind. That was getting the win. With that being said I had 11 tackles, 1 interception, and 115 receiving yards."

With schools already taking an early look Bufkin talked with us about where he feels his strengths are and what areas he'd like to improve on heading towards his senior season next year.

"I've got good footwork, good coverage, and can recognize a running play really well. I've got good burst or speed to recover, and I'm a hard hitter."

"I want to improve my footwork even more, completing my routes, catching the ball, improve my speed, get stronger, and become a better student of the game because there's always room for improvement."

With his senior season coming up next year Bufkin also shared some goals for his team and himself next year.

I want to become a better leader, help my team win state, break some records, make the North-South or Shrine Bowl team, and get signed to my dream college."

Bufkin talked about what it is he'll look at closely when choosing a college destination.

"I'm focused on my education, they have to have my major along with great graduation rates. Style of play is key also for me."

Currently Bufkin reports a 3.3 GPA and says he'll take the SAT this month.
