Emerging this past season for Lexington High School was 2016 running back Slade Carroll. The 5'10 195 pound back has already started hearing from quite a few schools. We spoke with the sophomore about his season and recruitment in-depth as he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com.
The 2016 prospect checked out his first school on Monday as he camped with Furman. He talked about some other schools he plans on camping with this off season as well.
"I plan on going to Charleston Southern, Wake Forest, South Carolina, and Charlotte this summer."
Carroll had a solid season for Lexington and he talked in-depth about his best game of the year which was also his breakout performance.
"My first playoff game against Dorman was my best game. I had 174 yards on 28 carries and 2 touchdowns. The offensive line made it happen with opening all the holes that night."
On the season Carroll says he had 141 carries for 634 yards and 4 touchdowns with 0 fumbles.
Talking about his game Carroll broke down where his game is currently and what aspects he wants to improve on.
"My vision in seeing which hole to cut in and all around cutting ability down the field are my biggest strengths right now."
"To get better I think I need to get my blocking abilities better and also my speed in the open field."
The 2016 prospect says he enjoys watching and following a former great who also played in the Palmetto State for tips and pointers on and off the field.
"My role model is Marcus Lattimore. I try to play my game after him. Not the fastest guy on the field but has very good vision and an explosive running back."
Given his measurables and stats last season Carroll should see improvement over the course of the next two seasons and we'll keep you updated regarding his play and recruitment here on SCPrepNation.com!
