UP NEXT: 16' Byrnes WR Chavis Dawkins

The Byrnes Rebels won another 7on7 tournament on Friday and the strong play of 2016 wide receiver Chavis Dawkins earned him his first scholarship offer. The 6'2 195 pound prospect talked with us about the camp, what other schools he's heard from so far, and what his plans are for the future. We've got the details inside here on SCPrepNation.com!

Chavis Dawkins Profile

"I got my first offer from NC State today," Dawkins told us on Saturday.

Dawkins paired with fellow 2016 Byrnes prospect Micah Young at quarterback helped to power the Rebels to a 7 on 7 tournament championship at NC State.

"It was a little bit of both! But without Micah I can't have made the plays I did today! So it was both of us."

"Yes I was very surprised when they offered. The head coach Dave Doeren and the recruiting coordinator offered me." Dawkins said.

Dawkins says he hasn't learned that much about the Wolfpack yet but he'll be doing his research to learn more about the program and staff moving forward.

There are some other schools who are already in the mix recruiting Dawkins and he told us which schools have been in touch with the 6'2 195 pound physical wide receiver already.

"Right now I'm hearing from South Carolina, Wake Forest, and North Carolina. They are all recruiting me about the same so far."

The 2016 prospect talked about his strengths and areas for improvement heading towards his junior season next year.

"My route running and what I can do after the ball is in my hands are my biggest strengths. I want to get better at catching the ball in traffic mostly."

Thus far Dawkins says he hasn't camped with any schools but he's hoping to attend his first one soon.

"I think I'm going to go to South Carolina for camp."

"I would compare my game to Marquis Lee's from USC because his route running and what he can do after the ball is in his hands."

The 6'2 195 pound wideout made it clear and simple what his goals are for his team next season as well as his personal goals.

"Definitely win state so I can get my first state title ring! On a personal level I just want to help my team get to the state and win and just try not to have any drops and about 10 touchdowns."

Moving forward he says he'd like to hear more from South Carolina and Clemson but also Georgia and LSU.

Dawkins says education, style of play, and atmosphere will be the most important factors for him when choosing a school.

SCPrepNation.com will have more updates with Dawkins as we anticipate his recruitment to continue to pick up steam over the course of the next two seasons.
