17' UCHS WR Shi Smith Talks Auburn

Already pegged as one of the state's top overall prospects in the 2017 class by SCPrepNation.com Union County WR Shi Smith camped over the weekend with the Auburn Tigers. We caught up with Smith after his time with the SEC power to see just how things went and what transpired. Check it all out here on SCPrepNation.com!

Shi Smith Profile

As one of the state's top 2017 prospects regardless of position Union County wide receiver Shi Smith emerged on the radar and is one of the most explosive players in the state regardless of classification as well. This past weekend Smith camped with the Auburn Tigers and we caught up with him upon his return home to see how things went.

"Auburn was good. The coaches said they would like me back up there at a game and also back at camp. They said they would stay in touch with me and recruit me strongly," Smith said.

So what all did Smith take in while he was on the campus?

"I was able to see the locker rooms, the stadium, where their classes are, the chill lounge for the players, the film room, the coaches' office, where they eat, the head coaches' office, and the training room."

Recently we saw Smith in action at the Byrnes 7on7, The Palmetto State Showdown 7on7 Tournament a few weeks ago. He was one of the most impressive prospects there regardless of class making a ton of nice grabs showing his superb speed and hands getting separation from defensive backs all throughout the tourney. Being able to play against some of the top teams and prospects from around the state and surrounding states we asked Smith how he'd rate his performance on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the very best.

"I'd say a 9. I made a lot of plays and didn't drop a ball if it wasn't broken up by the defensive backs. I feel like my team got better competing there and it gave us a chance to see where we are right now."

Smith left Auburn without an offer just as he did at Clemson after camping there. Still his lone offer is currently from South Carolina. Being the first school to offer might pay dividends for the Gamecocks one would think.

"Yes it is big to me that they were the first to offer."

For now Smith sits on that lone offer and should see plenty more offers once his sophomore seasons starts as we anticipate a strong season for the sophomore sensation in coach Steve Tanneyhill's high powered offense. We'll have more of the latest with Smith here on SCPrepNation.com!
