"I'm visiting Wofford today. Recruiting has slowed up since I tore my ACL. I had surgery 5 weeks ago."
"It was tough the first day I heard it but now I'm making the best out of my situation and trying to help my team however I can. I'm kinda like an assistant coach because we just hired a new offensive line coach."
With the injury and his recruitment slowing down because of it he talked about where things stand with the schools who've maintained not only their interest but kept those offers on the table.
"There aren't any new teams but everybody kept their offer and I"m hoping to pick one up today at Wofford. I visited Charleston Southern last Thursday and I visit Presbyterian on Wednesday."
So how was his time at Charleston Southern?
"It's really nice and I'm in love with the place! They really want me and I have an opportunity to play early if I bust my butt like I have been."
The South Florence will be in Spartanburg today and he talked about what he hopes to see while in town with the Terriers.
"I'm looking forward to it. They have great tradition at Wofford but they are looking to bounce back after a bad year last year. I want to kind of get a feeling for how they are going to turn things around and ultimately, see if they want me to be a part of the team in 2015."
Evans also talked about his upcoming trip to Clinton to visit with Presbyterian who has already offered as well along with Charleston Southern.
"I've been keeping in touch with them but Wednesday will be the first serious time I've met the whole staff and then I'll go from there. They seem pretty excited about having me come. They don't have people visit this close to camp but they have been wanting me to come up all summer, and I can now move really well and got my range of motion back so now I can go places."
Despite the injury Evans has remained upbeat and he talked about the injury and what his expected date for being completely healed might be.
"Rehab is going really good! Better than I expected. I'm ahead of schedule but I don't know by how much. I rehab three days a week and I told my therapist that my goal was to be back by November 7th, which is a push but that's what I'm working towards. That doesn't mean I'm going to be back then so at this stage we really can't tell the exact time table."
With Evans helping his team from the sidelines as a coach or mentor of sorts what does he see in his squad for this upcoming season?
"We have an explosive offense. We have receivers that can take a slant 70 yards to the house. On the offensive line we have a solid young group. They know what they are doing and get after it until the whistle."
We'll talk with Evans upon the conclusion of his Wofford and Presbyterian visits so stay tuned here on SCPrepNation.com or follow us on Twitter.
