In somewhat of a surprise 2015 Wando tight end Ben Jacques verbally committed to Charlotte a few weeks ago. We caught up with the 6'6 220 pound prospect to talk about his decision, goals for this season, and plans moving forward in this FREE update courtesy of SCPrepNation.com!
"Charlotte was the best fit for me out of all my options. It has a great coaching staff, solid fan base, and they were very interested in me. It's in the south and it's a great school that I will be able to study pre-med at."
Having given Charlotte a verbal commit will Jacques listen to any other suitors who may still come calling this season?
"Only if it is a step up from Charlotte will I listen."
The 2015 standout talked about where his current strengths are and what areas he'd like to improve on to help prepare him for the next level.
"Definitely my speed and athleticism are my biggest strengths. I'm trying to gain weight and strength. I really want to fill out."
Looking ahead to his senior season Jacques talked about the goals he has for his team and himself on a persona level.
"Obviously I'm going to do everything I can to help my team get to state and win a title. I want to be a reliable player that my team can count on to make big plays."
We asked Jacques if he had to compare his game to one particular player who would it be and why?
"Uh that's hard. I've never been one to compare that much. But Rob Gronkowski has always been someone I model my game off of because of his versatility and his use in the passing game."
Excited about his choice in Charlotte the Wando standout shared some thoughts that he feels 49er fans should know about him and what he'll bring to the football program at Charlotte.
"I bring speed, aggression, and dedication. I'm someone who is gonna leave it all out on the field."
