The word is starting to get out about 2016 Myrtle Beach running back Brandon Sinclair. Last season he piled up over 1,900 yards and 18 touchdowns en route to helping the Seahawks win a AAA state championship last season. This season Sinclair has picked up right where he left off and he's hearing from a handful of ACC and SEC schools early in the recruiting process. He's "UP NEXT" here on SCPrepNation.com!
During his first game last week Sinclair put up some big numbers in limited action as Myrtle Beach looks to defend their state championship. He recalled his week one outing stats for us.
"It's been great so far, we're 1-0 and I had 12 carries for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns. I also had 2 catches for 50 yards as well."
His numbers from last season have sparked the interest of a number of schools and he broke things down for us regarding his recruitment thus far as of late.
"NC State has contacted me and I will be taking an unofficial visit up there this week. Duke has also contacted me so I'm taking an unofficial up there the following weekend."
"Both schools say that they are excited to recruit me this year and that I would look great in their uniforms. (laughs)"
We had heard through the grapevine that South Carolina is showing a strong interest in Sinclair and we asked him about that. Something interesting took place as we posed that question to him.
"Mr. Fair that's kind of ironic that you said that (laughs) because my coach just handed me some mail from South Carolina."
The letter was a hand signed one from head coach Steve Spurrier expressing their interest in Sinclair as a top prospect for their program. It also stressed the importance of performing in the classroom according to the new NCAA requirements. That's an area that Sinclair will have absolutely no problems whatsoever it would appear as he currently reports a 3.7 GPA in the classroom.
We asked the Myrtle Beach prospect to compare his game to another running back and he gave us an answer we absolutely agree with after watching his highlights.
"Right now I would have to say LeSean McCoy because he's versatile. He's good in space and he can also run in between the tackles."
Myrtle Beach has a Thursday night game tonight against West Florence as they try to improve their record to 2-0 on the year. We'll catch up with Sinclair after his unofficial visit to NC State to see how things went in Raleigh and how he fared in his second game of the season so keep it right here for more of the very latest on SCPrepNation.com!
