2015 Myrtle Beach wide receiver Malik Waring has picked up right where he left off last season hauling in big catches for the Seahawks offense. The 6'0 175 pound prospect took a visit to in-state Wofford over the weekend and caught us up to speed with the rest of his recruitment as well.
"Through 5 games I have about 400 yards and 8 touchdowns."
Myrtle Beach, the defending AAA state champions, have been winning prety heavily this season so there are times where Waring may not see much action in the second half of play.
Schools have been taking a long look at the talented wide receiver and he caught us up to speed with the very latest.
"I've been hearing from Liberty, Limestone, Newberry, SC State, Charlotte, and Furman lately."
Over the weekend Waring traveled to Spartanburg to visit Southern Conference team Wofford. He talked at length about his time at the SoCon school.
"We went on a tour of the campus and saw all of the football facilities."
Waring says the Terriers' coaches were very interactive with him during his time there especially his potential position coach.
"Yes sir I talked to the wide receivers coach Freddie Brown and he said he was really excited to meet me and that he liked what he saw on film. He talked about how he's trying to get Wofford more involved in the passing game and that he was going to come to a game soon because he wanted to watch me play in person."
When asked about his favorite part of the trip to Wofford Waring had this to say, "The tour of the campus. It was a really beautiful place."
While in town Waring says he wasn't able to see much else of the Greenville-Spartanburg areas but that he's already heard from a lot of people that "it's an amazing area to live in."
Waring says he'd give his visit to Wofford "an 8" on a 1-10 scale and that he'll continue to work on his game to try and secure some offers soon hopefully.
"I just try to do the very best I can do and whatever I an to help my team win. With the faith of God I know everything else will work itself out."
Asked about his academics Waring informed us that he's currently carrying a 3.0 GPA and has scored a 20 on the ACT.
We'll have more updates with Malik Waring as he continues to fly under the radar for the Seahawks as they look to defend their state championship again currently 6-0 on the season.
