Christ Church just keeps on winning and one of their top prospects is junior wide receiver Braxton Westfield. The 2016 standout has seen his recruitment expand a great deal since the beginning of the season and we talked with him about the very latest which includes a number of visits as well as interest from ACC, SEC, and regional schools.
Westfield broke down things for us concerning some of his visits starting with multiple trips to Atlanta to check out Georgia Tech.
"We toured the locker room, the weight room which is still being renovated, the film and meeting room for the team, and we got to visit the trophy room. My favorite part about the visits was seeing the weight room even though it is still under construction. I liked how big it was and how they could all be in there at once. I got to talk to coach Cook, who is the recruiting coach for our area. He told me to keep in touch with him."
Mercer is another school that Westfield has visited and he talked about his time visiting with the Bears.
"That visit we got to talk to the coaches and go onto the field for the pre-game warmups."
During our last interview the 2016 prospect said that Auburn was one of the school's showing him the most interest but since then he says another school has really stepped things up as of late.
"I'd have to say Charlotte is recruiting me the hardest right now. I say that because I've been on a visit there and I've been getting a ton of hand written mail from them."
"I really enjoyed the visit to Charlotte. Coach Radcliffe was waiting to talk to me as soon as I walked into the football office. We toured the study rooms for the players and the locker room. I really liked the view that they have from their field."
So far Westfield has 30 catches for 613 yards and 9 touchdowns on the season for the Cavaliers. In doing so they won again on Friday night extending their state record winning streak to 48 wins in a row. Westfield talked about what aspects of his game have improved the most during the course of his junior season.
"I'd say my blocking. I feel it has improved a lot since the beginning of the season. I've just gotta keep working hard at getting better and keep improving each week."
Other schools continue to recruit Westfield and he says that he'd like to take more visits and filled us in on which schools he'll try and see soon.
