Last season Greenwood fullback D.J. Wright emerged on the radar for the Eagles in their vaunted wing-T attack. With a change in the offensive philosophy this season Wright is still plugging away for the Eagles and has drawn interest from a number of schools still despite less touches.
The 6'1 220 pound prospect dropped about 15 pounds since last season with Greenwood moving to more of a spread attack. He talked about how things have gone so far this season.
"I know I average about 8 yards per carry and I have about 500 yards so far this year. I've scored 6 touchdowns. Last season I ran for 834 yards and scored 10 touchdowns."
That work has seen schools like NC State, Auburn, SC State, Presbyterian, Coastal Carolina, and Missouri show interest thus far. The 2015 prospect has taken a few visits already and he filled us in on how they went too.
"NC State is recruiting me the hardest out of everybody right now. I've been to visit with them and Auburn."
"At NC State I walked around a little around campus and then went to the game against North Carolina last year. I'd give my visit to NC State a 9.5 out of 10. They have a beautiful campus and great fans so I really liked it up there."
"At Auburn it was pretty awesome too. I got to see some national championship trophies and their rings. I also went to a game there."
Currently Wright feels that his strength and vision are his two biggest strengths on the field. To better prepare himself for the college level he wants to improve on his speed. He says that most schools are recruiting him "as a super back or running back."
The 2015 prospect says he holds a 3.5 GPA and is waiting on his test scores. He'll also take the ACT on December 3rd.
We'll continue to track Wright's recruitment so keep it right here for more of the very latest.
