The Byrnes Rebels had another successful season and one of their top prospects is junior cornerback/wide receiver Jaylan Foster. The 6'0 170 pound prospect sat down with us over the weekend to talk about some new schools he's been hearing from and what visits he's planning on taking this off season.
"I was very happy with how I played this season. I thought I had a very successful season although we didn't win state."
"I have started to hear more from Maryland lately. They said they are going to try to get me up there this month and that they are going to start recruiting me more. I'm going to see when their Junior Day is and what other Junior Days I'm going to first. I plan on checking out Wake Forest, Kentucky, NC State, and Towson. Really any schools that invite me to come."
The 2016 prospect told us some of those schools are recruiting him harder than the others right now and shared those schools with us.
"That's tough but I'll say it's close between Kentucky, NC State, and Towson."
Foster had a solid junior season playing on both sides of the ball for the Rebels. He had 17 catches for 328 yards and 6 touchdowns offensively. He also made 20 tackles, 3 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries, and had 7 pass breakups on defense for the Rebels.
The Rebels played some of the toughest teams in the state this season and one player in particular proved to be the toughest wide receiver he faced he says.
The 2016 standout says he felt like his coverage skills and route running improved the most this season. To get better he says he'll continue to work on his "press coverage and top end of my routes."
Foster is also a standout basketball player for the #4 ranked Rebels.
