Trae'von Hinton Profile

Early on in the season we liked what we saw in 2016 Northwestern linebacker Trae'von Hinton. And throughout the season we witnessed him improve steadily. Now 6'2 227 pounds Hinton continues to grow and looks more and more like a potential college linebacker. On Monday he got some good news that could make that dream a reality one day.

"I got my first offer today from Charlotte. Coach Phil Ratliff offered me," Hinton messaged us.

We asked Hinton how it felt to land his first scholarship offer finally?

"Great man. Its a great feeling!"

"Coach just told me about the dates when I could come and see them. Told me about their Junior Day and he told me to come to a Spring Game. he told me that he wanted me to be a 49er and just keep my grades up."

"I guess I was pretty excited about the offer because we didn't really speak about my game and didn't really get a chance to ask him. I'll definitely talk to him more next time."

Hinton says there are a number of other schools who are actively recruiting him right now and the shared those schools with us.

"I'm hearing from Towson, Florida A&M, Virginia, Old Dominion, Wake Forest, and Ohio. I've already visited NC State for junior day there."

The 2016 prospect says he's got a few things lined up moving ahead and talked about those plans.

"I'm going to camp with Clemson on April 18th and I think I'm going to take a junior day to Towson."

He talked a little bit about his first junior day experience in Raleigh with NC State.

"I loved the campus, it was a great visit. I didn't get a chance to talk to any coaches because it was dead week. They were in their bowl game. I really like them a lot and want to hear a lot more from them soon."

Besides Charlotte Hinton told us that Towson is recruiting him pretty hard as well. For now he'll continue to work on various aspects of his game to try and up the ante this off season.

"Right now I'm 6'2 227 pounds and I've been working hard in the weight room. My bench press right now is 280 pounds and my squat is 515 pounds. I'm going to work more on my speed, strength, and footwork to get even better."

During his junior season Hinton had 118 overall tackles 90 solo tackles and 6 sacks. His play earned him Player of The Week honors in Northwestern's battles against South Pointe, York, and Byrnes.

We'll have more updates with Trae'von Hinton as we anticipate more schools stepping up in the coming weeks as he travels to various camps and combines so stay tuned.
