"I went to Mercer for their Junior Day and came out with my first offer," Urich said.

The 6'4 185 pound prospect talked about his initial reaction when the Bears coaches told him they were offering.

"It felt awesome! I was a little surprised but it felt great that all the hard work is paying off. Coach Tre Lamb, the quarterbacks coach, offered me."

The Bears informed Urich that "they really liked my film, every aspect of my game. He also was impressed with my speed."

The 2017 signal caller said that he really enjoyed watching the scrimmage the team had and also the Bears' basketball game.

"Mercer won after a three pointer in the last couple of seconds. The atmosphere was great!"

At Wren High School now after transferring from Blue Ridge Urich has been hearing from a number of schools since the offer.

"I've heard from SC State and Campbell since I got the offer last weekend. I'm not sure yet but I plan on going to their Junior Days."

Prior to the offer schools like Vanderbilt, Carson-Newman, and Savannah State were in the mix but expect a lot more schools to step their recruiting interest in Urich up as he will continue to hit the camp and combine circuit.

Working extensively with quarterback coach Ramon Robinson when he can Urich shared some of what he's beeen working with Robinson on. "We continue to work on footwork, mechanics, and we are now working more on throwing on the run."

A couple of weeks ago Urich placed in the Top 5 quarterbacks at the Adidas Showcase in Atlanta.

With his first offer in hand Urich told us that Mercer will get some extra love being the first school to extend him an offer but that he's willing to listen to any school that wants to recruit him.

"I'd like to hear from any school but especially schools like Clemson, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Memphis, and Appalachian State."
