Things have evolved quickly in the recruitment of 2016 Lake Marion defensive end Emmanuel Walker. The 6'6 225 pound prospect we've known about for a few months but before we could run our initial story about him college coaches have taken a strong liking to him and the rest as they say is history. From no offers to six offers in a matter of weeks Walker's stock has blown up and it appears it may not slow down anytime soon. This weekend he picked up an SEC offer and on Monday he added another ACC offer. That's why he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com!
We asked the 2016 Lake Marion prospect how it feels to experience and watch his recruitment "blow up" in the past few weeks.
"It feels great, I never thought this would happen to me."
As we mentioned he took a visit to Georgia over the weekend and he came away with an offer from the Bulldogs. He talked about his time in Athens and what the staff said to him while he was there.
"UGA felt like home and he (coach Sherrer) said he liked my ability to cover and rushing the quarterback. He said that only a few people in the country can do that."
There are a pair of others Walker knows are showing interest along with those schools.
When asked if he had some early favorites at this point or if he was wide open to everybody he had this to say. "I like UGA and Clemson for now."
Why are so many schools jumping on board for Walker? One reason to go along with the 6'6 225 pound frame would be his amazing speed coming off the edge. Walker has been timed at 4.47 seconds in the 40 yard dash and those freakish numbers scream out to college coaches. We asked him to compare his game to one player he responded with two players that he feels his style compares to.
"Vic Beasley because of my ability to rush the quarterback and Taylor Mays because of his speed and athleticism. My speed and quickness are my biggest strengths right now. To get better I want to increase my strength and my speed even more."
Still relatively early in the recruiting process there are a trio of schools that Walker is hoping will reach out to him in the very near future he says.
For now Walker's recruitment will roll on and undoubtedly he'll continue to hear from more schools and pick up more offers along the way. SCPrepNation.com will continue to track his recruitment and bring you the very latest so keep it right here for more!
