Things continue to move quickly for 2017 Wren High quarterback Jay Urich. The 6'4 185 pound prospect has seen his stock take off in a big way during the last few months and he has the attention of a Big Ten school along with a pair of new ACC schools during the past week or so. Urich talked with us about it all in this update.
"Penn State came down to visit me last Monday," Urich said.
Apparently there's a lot of admiration between Urich and the Nittany Lions too.
"They talked with coach Tate and their quarterbacks coach said he was impressed and that coach Franklin knows about me and that he's coming down for a live game next year. I'm going up to Penn State with my team for a 7 on 7 so I'll get to see some of the campus and facilities hopefully."
There are other schools who've stepped up their interest this past week as well Urich informed us.
"I've also got some new interest from North Carolina and NC State. UNC already came by the school to talk with my coach and watched a little of practice to check me and one of my wide receivers out. NC State will be down next week sometime to see me they said. SC State is also coming. Texas is still sending me hand written letters and I've also been getting some mail from UCLA. Furman and Western Carolina have also been by to see me lately."
Urich says as of right now he'll check out Penn State this off season with his team during the 7 on 7 there and he'll also camp with both North Carolina and NC State but he doesn't know which dates yet.
The 2017 signal caller battled strep throat and pneumonia midway through the week prior to Penn State's trip to see him last Monday but he battled through and had a solid workout with his quarterback trainer Ramon Robinson to sharpen his skills for practice with the Nittany Lions looking on.
We'll continue to track the recruitment of Jay Urich as he appears to be on the verge of taking his game and recruitment to new heights if things continue to evolve the way they have.
