2016 Woodmont offensive guard Jerius Duncan is one of the Upstate's strongest and most underrated prospects, and he has recently picked his first offers. We caught up with the 6' 265 pound prospect to talk about it all.
A week ago Duncan picked up his first offer from Elon. He talked about how it felt and what some of the reasons the Elon staff said they liked him so much that they had to offer.
"It feels great! They like that I am aggressive, explosive off the ball, they like my speed and strength too. But one of the big things they said is that they love my personality!"
So what does Duncan know about Elon early on in the process?
"I know that it is a really nice and good school. I know they used to be called the fighting Christians! I love that they have a very involved FCA program. And of course I love the fact that they have faith in me to succeed at their school!"
Duncan says he has not visited Elon yet but has plans to do so in the next few weeks. They aren't the only school currently in the mix for the punishing guard from Woodmont though.
Asked which programs aside from Elon are recruiting him the hardest and he might camp with he said, "App State for sure and probably Charleston Southern are the really the ones that want me to come and I'll go."
Breaking down his own strengths and areas for improvement Duncan said his "speed and aggression" are his biggest strengths right now.
"I really want to improve on my lateral movement some more and simply just tweaking up my pass protection and moving on linebackers."
There are some other schools Duncan would like to hear more from in the future and he shared them with us.
The day after this interview was conducted Duncan landed his second scholarship offer and he messaged us with the news.
"I got offered by Charleston Southern today! Coach Chadwell offered but Willy Korn came to the school. They said that I'm number one on his board for linemen and that they really want me. I think they like me at guard."
We'll continue to monitor Jerius Duncan's recruitment as he continues to hear from more schools. For now check out Duncan's testing measurables below and find out how to follow us on Twitter.
