1st offer in for '16 Wren WR Bailey Rogers

A big time SPARQ score recently may be what helps show college coaches that 2016 Wren slot wide receiver Bailey Rogers is most definitely a player to watch. One school has already extended him his first scholarship offer and his work at some of this off season's early camps and combines is increasing his stock. Come inside as we have the very latest with Rogers here on SCPrepNation.com.

Bailey Rogers Profile

A strong score at the Nike Opening Regionals has opened up the eyes of more college coaches when it comes to 2016 Wren wide receiver Bailey Rogers. Having seen him in-person we expect his recruitment to pick up after he attends some more school camps and if he starts strong early on during his senior season. He talked with us about the very latest.

"I scored a 105.6 on my Nike SPARQ rating in Charlotte. A lot more schools have contacted me as well."

So which schools have reached out to the explosive and precise route runner from Wren?

"Well I've been getting a lot of mail from Missouri, NC State, and Duke. I've also been talking to the Appalachian State, Furman, Charleston Southern, and Georgia Southern coaches recently too."

"I received my first scholarship offer from Lehigh. I was surprised that coach Mutunga had come to see me all the way from Pennsylvania. I also felt a little bit of relief when I found out that he had offered me."

So which of those programs along with Lehigh are recruiting Rogers the hardest as of late?

"Furman. I talk to coach McKenzie or coach Bratton at least once or twice a week."

That interest could lead to the Paladins possibly being Rogers' next offer.

As we mentioned before Rogers has been performing at a high level on the camp and combine circuit so far this off season. He was at the Elite Position Training Football Skills Showcase back in April and he emerged as one of the top ten wide receivers at the talent laden invitation only event. He talked about his experience there and the event overall.

"I really enjoyed the competition and the opportunity to make myself better by competing against them. I know a bunch of the guys I was going against too so it was good having some friendly competition/rivalries there. The EPT Showcase was very organized and the coaching staff was phenomenal. It was a great experience!"

He carried that momentum on to Charlotte recently at the Nike Opening Regionals. He talked about his performance there as well.

"I think I did pretty well at the SPARQ. I learned what some of my strengths are but more importantly I found out where I need to improve. I had some pretty solid numbers but I feel like my forty yard dash could improve tremendously by just tweaking a few things."

Rogers says he's picked up a few more schools showing interest since the Nike event and he's hoping that things will continue to pick up. The 2016 prospect talked about some of the schools he intends on camping with this off season to try and showcase his talents in front of college coaches.

"I've planned on going to NC State, Duke, Furman, and Appalachian State."

He says that he'd like to hear more from North Carolina and NC State moving forward.

Last season he caught passes from current Clemson freshman quarterback Kelly Bryant. He'll have a new signal caller in the mix in 2017 quarterback Jay Urich. Rogers talked about how things have evolved with the pair early on.

"All I can say is that we've been working on timing and routes and everything is starting to come together very nicely."

Rogers reports a 3.6 GPA currently.
