The Virginia Tech coaching staff was glad to secure an early verbal offer from 2016 Greer cornerback Troy Pride Jr. Now the Hokies staff will do what they can to try and hold on to Pride as other schools continue to barrage him with their recruiting pitches and offers. One of his latest offers is one of his biggest offers to date and he messaged us with the news minutes after he landed the offer.
"Notre Dame just offered me," Pride messaged us.
We asked Pride about the offer and what the Fighting Irish staff has said to him thus far?
"Coach Denson is my recruiter. He began by thanking me which was odd but it really showed the character and separation of Notre Dame from other schools! Picking up an offer from Notre Dame is amazing and another one of God's blessings! It's motivation to continue to grind harder than ever and go be the greatest."
So what did Denson say he likes about Pride's game?
"He actually didn't even mention my game too much. He liked the overall aspect of me along with the fact that I can play and he promoted Notre Dame as a place to grow in general."
Pride says he would like to visit Notre Dame if he can get a flight to South Bend. Other schools besides the Fighting Irish remain in the chase for the current Virginia Tech commitment. Could he be on the verge of another offer soon?
The Greer prospect may attend some school camps but he says that "nothing is set in stone yet."
We'll continue to track Troy Pride Jr.'s recruitment as it continues to stay hot despite his early verbal commitment to Virginia Tech. Stay tuned here on SCPrepNation.com!
