Union County has always been home to a bevy of talented prospects through the years and they will have another loaded team next season. One prospect we saw emerging last season was 2016 wide receiver Roscoe Johnson and his efforts are starting to pay off as he's earned a pair of offers in the past week.
His first offer came last week and Johnson was happy to give us the news first.
"North Carolina Central offered. I should have more coming in when my test scores come back."
Johnson talked about what went through his mind initially and how it felt to land his first offer.
"To be honest I don't even know what to say...I'm speechless and surprised. I was riding around with one of my friends and coach Taneyhill called."
NC Central isn't the only school to be in the mix right now for Johnson as he's got a number of schools that are showing him serious interest. He'll also camp with different schools to try and impress them even more.
"North Carolina, Appalachian State, and Georgia Southern are on me hard right now. I camped with North Carolina and Wake Forest. I go back to UNC for the Freak Show and I gotta go to Georgia for Dawg Night. I'll also be going to App State and Georgia Southern soon too."
Johnson talked about his camp stops with both ACC programs.
"UNC liked me a lot. I caught coach Fedora's eye and now they are just waiting on test scores to come back before they offer they told me."
"Wake Forest was good too I think. I haven't heard back from them since though."
On this past Monday Johnson picked up his second offer.
"Elon just offered me. Coach Taneyhill told me that they called and offered."
Since we talked to him last week a number of other schools have stepped up their interest in Johnson he says.
We'll continue to track Roscoe Johnson's recruitment as he's one of the state's most underrated prospects in our opinion for 2016 regardless of position.
