3-star Chavis Dawkins talks the latest

Rising senior Chavis Dawkins of Byrnes High School already holds a number of offers. The 2016 prospect emerged on the radar last off season with his first offer from an ACC school and since then things have steadily seen others join the mix for his services. Dawkins sat down with us to talk about the latest after another excellent showing at the Palmetto State Showdown 7on7 Tournament.

Chavis Dawkins Profile

The receiving corps at Byrnes High School usually has been home to one of the best in the state year in and year out. Next year's group will be no different with two of their wide receiver prospects already holding offers and a third expecting to land some in the very near future. Physically gifted senior Chavis Dawkins continues to produce for the Rebels as he helped power them to the Palmetto State Showdown 7on7 Championship Game before ultimately losing to Westside. Impressive throughout the day he made some excellent grabs and showed exactly why he's already got multiple offers from FBS programs.

Sitting down with Dawkins after the event he caught us up to the speed on the very latest regarding his off season, recruitment, and outlook for the future.

We asked the talented receiver what areas of his game he feels he's made the most strides with since the end of his junior season?

"Probably my route running and hands."

"Some of the schools I've been hearing from lately are Middle Tennessee, NC State, Wake Forest, and Georgia Southern. NC State is recruiting me the hardest right now still."

Apparently the Wolfpack are grouped with four other schools that are really standing out to Dawkins currently he informed us. The other four being Appalachian State, Louisville, Old Dominion, and Wake Forest.

Right now Dawkins is "waiting to see what happens" with other schools.

He informed us that he'd like to make a decision sometime "during the season most likely."

Although there are some frontrunner right now by no means is the door shut for other schools who want to recruit Dawkins he says. He'll listen to anyone who wants to recruit him it's just that the five he mentions as frontrunners have shown that he's a priority to him at this juncture.

"As far as the skills guys we are working hard in the weight room and we've got to learn to continue to finish strong to get better and better."

He also shared something that potential college coaches will want to know about him if he were to enter their football program.

"I just want college coaches to know that I'm a very hard worker and that I'm very coachable."

As of right now there are no upcoming camps or visits for Dawkins he says. He and his Byrnes team will head to Hoover Alabama to participate in the Select 7on7 tournament next.
