UP NEXT: '17 Woodruff WR Keith Pearson

Explosive slot receivers are starting to become a greater value in today's game and one prospect who definitely fits that mold is 2017 Woodruff WR Keith Pearson. The 5'9 165 pound speedster is also a technician and that combination racked up big stats as a sophomore last year. ACC and SEC schools are already showing early interest and he's "UP NEXT" here with SCPrepNation.com!

Keith Pearson Profile

Our "UP NEXT" series rolls on and the next prospect to be featured is 2017 Woodruff High wide receiver Keith Pearson.

We asked the 2017 prospect about how things went for him last year as a sophomore.

"Last season I had 40 catches for 720 yards and 15 touchdowns.

That has resulted in a few schools already showing early interest in the talented 5'9 165 pound prospect. He talked about those schools and where things stand early on in the recruiting process.

"I've heard from South Carolina, North Carolina, North Greenville, and Georgia Tech so far. I would say that Georgia Tech is showing me the most interest right now. They've talked with coach Elder about me."

The Woodruff standout has already visited North Carolina he says and he gave us a little bit about his thoughts on the Tar Heels.

"I've only talked to my recruiter, Coach Gunter Brewer. I don't remember everything but I really liked the academic help they offered to their student athletes."

Pearson was on the radar after last season and he helped himself this off season shining at the Elite Position Training Football Skills Showcase back in April. There he was named as one of the top wide receivers in a loaded position of campers. He's worked and trained a great deal this off season with EPT and Woodruff freshman quarterback Keegan Halloran. The pair have developed some early chemistry and will be a duo to watch these next two seasons.

The 2017 prospect says he's been working on all aspects of his game as a wide receiver but one in particular this off season.

"I have really been working on getting out of my routes quicker."

The rising junior reports a 3.6 GPA in the classroom and says he hasn't taken the ACT or SAT yet but plans on doing so soon.

After posting such outstanding numbers last year as a sophomore and scoring on 37.5% of his touches (15 touchdowns on just 40 catches) Pearson is definitely a prospect to watch these next two seasons. We'll continue to track his play and recruitment as his junior season is set to get underway.
