2017 Basketball Class South Carolina Jalek Felton Devontae Shuler Tariq Simmons Nicholas Claxton Basketball Editor Randy Johnson brings us an early look at the Top 40 basketball prospects in the state of South Carolina for the 2017 class. Lead by current North Carolina verbal commit Jalek Felton there's a deep talent pool to choose from here in the Palmetto State. The S.C. hoops class of 2017 is loaded and presently has a pair of Top 30 national prospects. 

The class is led by 6’4 "Mr. Do It All" PG Jalek Felton of Mullins HS/Team Felton who is ranked as high as #7 in the nation. A superb passer and shooter who can score in bunches and had over four 45+ point games this past season. Felton has already committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels where he will follow in his uncle's footsteps.

6’3 Devontae Shuler of Irmo/SC Hornets also cracks the national rankings. A very athletic scoring guard who is very explosive off the dribble and can shoot the 3 ball as well. Has early offers from Clemson, South Carolina & Southern Cal and being heavily recruited by UNC, NC State, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Louisville, Tennessee, and others. (Shuler has transferred to Oak Hill Academy)

The SCPrepNationHoops top five is rounded out by 6’4 WF Jalen Cameron of West Florence/UBA, 6’3 G Tariq Simmons Keenan/Carolina Wolves, 6’6 Wing Keith Matthews Blythewood/Carolina Wolves 16U & Duane Moss 6’6 wing Carolina Forest/Upward Stars SE.

Cameron is an explosive scoring 2G who holds offers from Towson & UMES & being recruited by Wake Forest, Clemson, New Mexico State, and others.

Simmons is a big time guard who led his team to the 2A state Championship and is being recruited by USC, Clemson, Charleston, Stanford, Stephen F. Austin, and others.

Matthews is one of many lengthy wings in the 2017 class who is smooth and holds an offer from Coker and getting looks from Clemson, Charleston, Charlotte and others will be big time.

Moss is another long wing who can stroke it and is being recruited by USC, Clemson, Maryland, NC State, Charleston, Wofford, Portland, and others.
