Come inside to get the details of the very latest with one of the state'

As one of the most underrated prospects in the state for the 2018 recruiting class Daniel High quarterback Ben Batson is working hard to add more offers and schools to his list.  With one offer already to his resume he continues to show why he's definitely one schools will want to watch moving forward in the recruiting process.

Batson checks in currently at 6'1 195 pounds and is one of the strongest pound for pound quarterbacks you'll find.  He's already proven a winner for the Daniel Lions during his time.  Last season as a sophomore Batson passed for 2,100 yards and ran for another 800 yards while being responsible for 21 touchdowns.

Through the first two games of his junior season he's already gotten the Lions off to a 2-0 start and he's amassed 365 passing yards and run for another 180 yards for a total of 7 touchdowns. Since this interview Batson and the Lions are now 3-0.

Batson talked with us about his recruitment as of late catching us up to speed.  "I have one offer from SC State and the schools I've heard from lately are Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, and South Carolina.  Clemson doesn't count."

Clemson to many college coaches is thought to be a foregone conclusion for Batson as his father is the Tigers' long time strength and conditioning coach. The junior had some pretty clear thoughts for anyone who thinks he'll definitely head to nearby Clemson where his father coaches.

"If I go to Clemson I will not have a chance to start, that's the whole reasoning behind my statement.  I wanna go to a school that truly wants me as a quarterback.  I just want college coaches to know that Clemson is not gonna be a factor because my dad coaches there and I would like other opportunities."

The 2018 signal caller also talked about what he'll look at closely when looking at potential colleges.

"It's gonna depend on relationships with coaches.  Depth chart. I'm not gonna be a walk on.  Clemson is known for coaches' kid being players but I don't want to be one of those.  I want to go somewhere that gives me the best opportunity to play."

As mentioned before Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, and South Carolina have been showing him the most interest as of late.  Batson says he camped with all of them except Georgia Southern this off season.  He says he did take a visit to Statesboro though and loved it. He also camped with Appalachian State.

When asked to breakdown the strengths and areas for improvement concerning his game Batson had this to say, "I love all of my teammates and I can make any throw on the field.  I can also run well with the football.  To get better I'm working on just getting bigger and faster.  My dad has been preaching to me since I was a little kid that this is a man's game and you have to be big and fast so the biggest improvement for me is getting bigger and I think that will help me with everything."

We already had a good idea of what he'd say when we asked him to recall his best single game performance of his career.

"My freshman year when I got thrown in the game against Wren versus Kelly Bryant!  We were on a last minute drive down by six and the senior quarterback took himself out of the game.  So they threw me out there and I completed like five passes and threw a touchdown to go up and that was the biggest moment for me because that was when I became the quarterback for Daniel High School."

Moving forward Batson wanted to let it be known that he's definitely looking forward to hearing from more schools in the very near future.  He shared a few of the ones who he wants to hear from soon.

"I like Tulane because I think they have a really good coaching staff, I would like to hear from Auburn, Virginia Tech, and really any school that is interested in me.  I'm open to anything or anyone that wants to recruit me."

Batson reports a 3.8 GPA in the classroom.
