The Green Wave will be looking to the special teams to add a needed spark in 2002.

The Green Wave will be looking to the special teams to add a needed spark in 2002.

Leading the way, are the two junior kickers, Allen Smith and Mark Reiter. Mark averaged 36 yards a punt as a sophomore at Summerville in his first year of punting after 3 years of placekicking.  He also handled the pooch punt and executed it to perfection in the Stratford and Ft. Dorchester games....in front of approx 10,000 folks at each game.

Allen Smith did a great job as a sophomore place-kicker for the Wave. He had 2 kicks blocked during the entire season.

Mark (6'2"...180 lbs) kept the Wave in the game against Stratford last season by averaging 44 yards a punt for 7 punts that night.  He finished the year with a 36 yd average from 50 punts with an average return of only 5 yards a kick. Currently, he's in the top 3% of his class academically and shooting for a 1300 in the SAT. He is hoping to draw the eyes of the Clemson recruiters and maybe earn a chance to walk on at Clemson and major in Mechanical Engineering.

Mark has a goal of hitting 45 yards per kick this season and hopes to camp at Clemson, USC, and Duke.

Allan Smith, also made Honorable Mention, All-Low Country for the Post and Courier and converted on 30 of 32 extra point and hit 7 field goals with a long of 44 yards.

Both these fine young men hope to lead the Summerville Green Wave to the Promised Land.
