Staff Changes at Calhoun County
Calhoun County named James Stokes as the new head football coach for the 2002 season today. Coach Stokes take over after Chris Rumph left the Saints to join the staff at South Carolina State. Rumph will become the linebackers/secondary coach for the Bulldogs. He joins a Garnet and Black-heavy staff that already has former USC graduate assistants Robby Wells (this past season worked at Lexington High School) as defensive coordinator and Rick Kazcenski as offensive line coach and Willie Scott as wide receivers' coach. Other assistants include running backs' coach Demetric Davis, who played under Buddy Pough at Fairfield Central. Coach Stokes takes over a Calhoun County team that has very good talent and could make a run at a Region title in 2002.
