Lakewood Excited about 2002 Season

Lakewood started their spring drill recently.  According to the coaching staff, practice is going well.  Numbers are down from last year as Lakewood made spring practice invitation only.

"We have a very solid core group of players who have had some of the college coaches really impressed with them.  Cory Amos and Cedric Gipson have had a great spring so far. " according to Coach Crolley. Every coach that has come by so far has really been impressed with these two. "Everyone of them has said they would love to have these two right now."

There are many great running backs this year in South Carolina, but  Cedric maybe  as good a back as you will find.  He has great feet and is really explosive.  He is also a top cornerback.  He is a great athlete and will be a force to be reckoned with this year.  Cory is also a great athlete and he also has the size to go with it.  He is playing def. back and wide receiver.  These two will probably never come off the field.  Parez Riley is also having a very good spring.  He is firing off the ball and really being a leader.  Everyone is impressed with his feet and quickness but his height is not quite what the big boys like.  He was measured at 6'1' at the Coaches combine.  He weighed 258 and ran a 5.1 in the forty.  He ran a 5.2 at the Nike combine.  He is a very good lineman.  Following is a breakdown of the positions at this time and their grade next year.
