"Right now I'm hearing from Oklahoma and Southern California the most," Tate told us. "I don't have any offers yet but I'm most interested in Florida, Oklahoma, and Southern Cal. I'd also like to hear from South Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee."
The Gaffney Indians and Tate are off to a 5-0 record thus far on the season and are coming off a AAAA Big 16 state championship a year ago. Early in the season we asked Tate to describe to us how he feels he's fared to this point. "It's been great. I don't get the ball thrown to my side most of the game."
As Kendrick waits on his first offer he already knows what area he would like to study when he gets to a college campus. "Business Management, I like real estate." Until an offer is extended expect Tate to keep making plays on the field although most plays are in support of his teammates as opposing offenses stay away from Mr. Tate.
He offered us this description of what makes him such a standout defender, "I'm able to recognize routes quickly, I've got good flexibility, explosiveness, and I excel in man to man coverage. Right now my weakness is probably my weight (lack of). I'd like to work on my zone coverage more too."
With a great year already and a matchup with powerhouse Byrnes to be televised nationally in just a few weeks expect to hear more from Gaffney's Kendrick Tate as the season unfolds.
