Patriots Host Pigskin Blastoff . . .

North Charleston, SC - - Despite a one-hour rain and lightning delay, the Palmetto Pigskin Blastoff held at Fort Dorchester High School was a big success. The annual event at Patriot Field drew over 5,000 fans through the turnstiles during the night.

North Charleston, SC - - Despite a one-hour rain and lightning delay, the Palmetto Pigskin Blastoff held at Fort Dorchester High School was a big success. The annual event at Patriot Field drew over 5,000 fans through the turnstiles during the night.

This was the largest number of team's participating in the four years of the event. Ten teams, each playing two quarters, saw action in the pre season scrimmage with the proceeds going to support the Football Booster Club at Fort Dorchester High School.

Results of each quarter were:

 

Quarter 1:  Fort Dorchester 7, Spring Valley 0

Fort Dorchester's Paul Cianciolo completed a 17-yard pass to wide out Durrell Barry as the Patriots beat the Vikings of Spring Valley 7-0 in the first quarter of action.

Quarter 2:  Spring Valley 7, West Ashley 2

Spring Valley got a four yard run from running back Billy Jackson as the Vikings came back to defeat the West Ashley Wildcats 7-2. West Ashley got on the board first as defensive end Akeam Lemar tackled the Viking quarterback in the end zone for a safety.

Quarter 3:  Stall 6, West Ashley 0

Stall's Robert Small rumbled 78 yards as the Warriors blanked the Wildcats 6-0 in third quarter action.

Quarter 4:  St. John's 0, Stall 0

Stall and St. John's battled to a scoreless tie in the fourth quarter.

 

Quarter 5:  James Island 17, John's Island 0

In a battle of the Islands, James Island blanked the Islanders of St. John's 17-0. The Trojans scored three times with the big play coming on a John Forrest 55-yard pass form quarterback Steven Tumbleston.
