Class A State Championships

With 2 huge games to be settled in Orangeburg at Dawson Bulldog Stadium on Friday two state champions emerged. Class A was divided into 2 divisions and Carvers Bay and Lake View went out and put in work to proudly hold their state championships high afterwards.

While the nation celebrated Thanksgiving as a whole yesterday Friday night saw a handful of teams continuing the exact same theme as they march on to Columbia to play for a state championship. In fact two teams have already won state championships in their respective class.

In Class A there were were two divisions created and Carvers Bay walked away with a narrow 22-21 victory for the Class A Division 1 championship over Chesterfield High. In Class A Division 2 Lake View romped over Ridge Spring-Monetta 40-6.

Lake View 40 Ridge Spring-Monetta 6
Lake View's victory was an emotional one as their starting QB before the season Ronald Sampson was killed in an automobile accident a few short days before the start of the season. In the end the determined Wild Gators controlled the game with their ground attack as they never looked to pass once in the game. The Wild Gators also took advantage of five Ridge Spring-Monetta turnovers to seal their championship fate.

Recent Colorado signee Devonne Quattlebaum scored the only points for RSM on a 12 yard touchdown run. The future Buffalo put forth a heroic effort rushing for 106 yards but there simply was no denying Lake View in this one.

Congratulations to Carvers Bay and Lake View on winning state championships but also to the many players, coaching staffs, parents, and fans of all the schools involved in the Class A championships.
