At Lexington Two District Stadium on the Airport HS campus was the Lexington County Sportsarama which featured eight teams representing Class 4A, 3A, and 2A. Each quarter consited of a 15-minute period.

Gilbert 7, Pelion 0
In the first quarter, Gilbert downed Pelion 7-0 on a touchdown by fullback Brad Johnson and PAT by Josh Cruse at the 1:36 mark … The Indians' Jerrin Watson intercepted a Panther pass on the final play of the quarter.

Batesburg-Leesville 7, Swansea 6
In the second stanza, Batesburg-Leesville edged Swansea 7-6  with both scores in the final two minutes. Swansea took a 6-0 lead at the 1:17 mark when Dimitri Sutton scored on a 53-yard pass from quarterback Chris Oliver. But, the extra point was no good and the Panthers rallied in  the closing seconds when fullback Deveto Johnson scored to pull even and the PAT was good to give B-L the win. Swansea had a 58-yard touchdown punt return by Whitney McDaniel called back for clipping early in the quarter.

Miss Sportsarama
At halftime, Senior Kelsi Dunlap of Brookland-Cayce was crowned Miss Sportsarama!

White Knoll 3, Brookland-Cayce 0
In the third period, White Knoll used a 33-yard field goal by sophomore John Day to squeak past Brookland-Cayce 3-0. The Bearcats' junior placekicker Senad Ademovic attempted a 41-yard field goal midway through the quarter, but the kick fell short of the crossbar.

Lexington 14, Airport 0 (7:00 left in quarter)
At the halfway point of the fourth quarter between Lexington and Airport, the Wildcats scored on their first two possessions for a 14-0 lead. On the first play from scrimmage, Lexington ran a reverse to Casey Carlson, who scampered home from 25 yards. Then, on the next series for the Wildcats, All-America tailback Demetris Summers tallied a 19-yard score as he carried four Eagles into the end zone from the five-yard line.

Next Week
All in all, a nice opening night under the lights for Lexington County football teams and next week the "real season" begins. Brookland-Cayce will take on Airport at District Stadium, Lexington will host P.M. Dorman, Gilbert will host Batesburg-Leesville, and Swansea will travel to Chapin.

Thanks!
