Greenville High School has been an offensive powerhouse over the past 5 seasons and during that time the Red Raiders have produced some high level D1 talent. With alumni such as Alex Pearson (Clemson), Cory Lambert (Clemson), Nathan Pepper (South Carolina), and Noah Whiteside (South Carolina) the Red Raiders are often visited by D1 coaches looking for the next big timers out of Greenville High.
With a high powered offense and a number of record breaking wide receivers emerging from the program already Jim Sosebee's team has not one but two wide receiver prospects who could land on the D1 level.
SCPrepNation.com caught up with one of the talented junior wideouts, Chris Wallace, to see just where his recruitment stands.
Wallace caught 44 passes for 675 yards while reaching the endzone 13 times this past season as a junior. At 6'1 175 pounds Wallace has decent size but could also more than likely grow another inch or two. Wallace says, "I'm a bigger wide receiver so I'm really good at utilizing my size and body to shield defenders when catching the ball." He remains humble though realizing that he needs to work on other areas to continue to improve and become one of the best wide receivers in the state next year. "I plan on trying to get stronger and faster this off-season. Another area I'd like to work on is protecting the ball when I have it. Sometimes I'm not too careful with it after I catch it."
Wallace has already become a student of the game he informed us as well. "Man I watch a lot of tape on Jerry Rice. My wide receivers coach has a lot of tapes of him and I try to learn everything I can from watching him over and over again."
Still early in the recruiting process the junior wideout has a clear favorite already when it comes to his recruitment. "I love North Carolina State. I'm not hearing from them yet like I want but I would love to. Wake Forest is a close second." While the Wolfpack have yet to show him the love other D1 schools are already showering him with mail and attention. "I'd have to say Wake Forest is sending me the most letters. Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Appalachian State are recruiting me pretty hard too. I got a chance to visit Wake Forest when they played Virginia Tech and loved it."
When it comes to making a decision Wallace says a few things will have a major impact on his final decision. "Basically I want a school that is going to not only develop my football skills but really enhance my education as well."
