Merriweather Scores Late TD In Hula Bowl

Clemson's Reggie Merriweather earned a chance to play in the Hula Bowl and the former North Augusta High star didn't disappoint helping his East squad come away with a victory late in the game. Come inside for all the details.

Some feel Reggie Merriweather got a raw deal at Clemson late in his career but such is the case of college football and incoming big time recruits. Merriweather, of North Augusta High School, obviously isn't one to sulk about it even though many fans made their displeasure known about his lack of playing time late in his career. Merriweather is in Hawaii participating in the Hula Bowl trying to impress pro scouts so that he can continue his gridiron career on the next level.

With a familiar face in the backfield with him in quarterback Will Proctor Reggie Merriweather laid it all out on the line Sunday in the Hula Bowl and his efforts turned out to help the Aina (East) squad come from behind late and take the victory. Merriweather scored on a 1 yard touchdown run but his effort all day was pretty outstanding given the level of competition as everyone was trying to catch the eye of NFL scouts on hand.

Breaking a few tackles along the way and gaining some nice yardage Merriweather obviously didn't hurt his chances to be considered as a solid prospect for the upcoming draft.

Final stats for Merriweather and his Clemson teammate cornerback Sergio Gilliam (Greer High), and South Carolina center Chris White (Chester High) will be forthcoming from SCPrepNation.com so stay tuned.
