Brian Lane, an assistant for the Byrnes Rebels, has accepted the head coaching position for South Florence High School. Lane a former star QB for the Rebels is a 95' graduate and brings a wealth of knowledge to the South Florence program. Some feel he's one of the bright young minds in high school football especially after learning under the tutelage of outgoing Byrnes head coach Bobby Bentley. Lane spent this past season as the wide receivers coach but has also coached the quarterbacks and running backs during his career with the Rebels as an assistant coach.
Lane, just 30 years old, will lead a Bruins squad that won just 3 games last season. The job will be Lane's first as a head coach on the high school level. Expect things to change in a positive direction for that program under his guidance.
