Coastal Carolina: Reloads In Palmetto State

A 9-3 season for Coastal Carolina marked the beginning of what may be another I-AA power in South Carolina. The Chanticleers are hoping to captialize on their breakout season and reloaded with plenty of talent from within the Palmetto State. Come inside for a look at their SC high school signees and the players SCPrepNation sees as early impact players.

Coastal Carolina had a breakthrough season this past year and now aims to replenish their team. With a great victory over Furman on their way to a 9-3 season Coastal Carolina has more than just the beach to entice young football standouts now. Now with a Big South championship sitting in their trophy case the Chanticleers are making a strong statement as a rising football program.

The Chanticleer coaching staff didn't have to look too far as their 2007 class is full of plenty of Palmetto State talent. Below is a list of South Carolina high schoolers signing their LOI (letter of intent) with the Chanticleers.

Impact players who could possibly see playing time early
LB Derrick Frasier-Frasier isn't big but he had a great senior season (174 tackles & 6 sacks) culminating in a great showing during Shrine Bowl practices. Some questioned if he belonged at the All-Star game but from day one of practices those critics were silenced. Frasier has a real nose and knack for getting to the ball.
QB Jamie Childers-Childers benefited by working on his game at Hargrave Military last season where he faced top notch competition each and every game. That along with his tremendous physical presence could put him ahead of the game at this point. Childers also is currently enrolled at CCU and will have a headstart by participating in spring practices.
S/DB Keon Cunningham-Cunningham didn't have quite as spectacular a senior season as we thought he could have but the potential is still there for him to become a dynamite player on the collegiate ranks
