Fort Mill Gets It Done; Downs Easley 51-41

Fort Mill brought an experienced team who sat at or near the top of the AAAA rankings all season. Friday night saw their experience and hard work come to fruition as they defeated a tough Easley Green Wave team at the Bi-Lo Center for the Upper State Championship. Come inside for the latest.

Coming into Friday night's game the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets weren't trying to hear what the Easley Green Wave fans had to say prior to their game against a strong Easley High School team that boasts the AAAA state player of the year in Michael Jenkins and a supporting cast including 2009 star SG Tahj Tate. Friday shows what a team can do through determination and execution as the Yellow Jackets came in and showed everyone why they sat at or near the top of the AAAA basketball rankings most of the season. The end result was a 51-41 victory for the Yellow Jackets.

Laden with a roster full of 9 seniors and 5 juniors Fort Mill head coach Bailey Jackson will now take his squad into one of the biggest games in school history to play for the AAAA state championship. 6'7 junior center Chalmers Rogers will once again play a big role in their chance to win it all next weekend as will senior guard Paress Barker. They will play the winner of tomorrow's Lower State championship between Summerville and Hartsville.
